Putting it in Perspective

"Thanks." Cliff pulled out his phone and scrolled through some messages. Only a few minutes later, he lifted her level to his face and held the phone out in front of him. "Look at the little circle and smile." He said, already posing for the camera. After the shutter sound, he relaxed and checked out the picture.
She would have answered him, but she quickly found herself distracted by Jon's machine. The only technology she'd ever gotten a particularly good look at were the cars, so it was rather interesting. She considered getting away from Cliff so she could get a closer look, but then she felt his hand begin to raise.
"What?" she asked, only managing to look startled and confused by the time it made the noise. She stood up to try and get a look at the screen.
"Whoa, that is so cool!" she exclaimed, before her smile faded as she thought of the warnings of never letting a human capture your image. Not for superstitious reasons, but because that would be proof that you existed.
Cliff was pleasantly surprised by her enthusiasm. He brought his hand up in front of his face so she could look on with him at the picture. "You've got the dear in the headlights look down good." He teased. "One more try! Think of bashing me on the head if you have to. " He gave her a squeeze of encouragement, lowering his hand against his chest and raising the phone over his head again to a flattering angle.
That last bit was enough to bring her smile back, and she pushed the gloomy thought to the back of her mind. She'd trusted them up to this point, no point in stopping now. Worse came to worse, she could find a way to drop the little device in the toilet.
She smiled, then looked back to him once he'd taken it. "So, that's a camera? I always thought they were bigger and more box shaped. And that hole seems awfully small to fit both of us in it."
Even Jon looked up from his computer screen, biting back a smile at her. It was strange to think how their worlds coexisted, yet knew hardly anything about each other. Talk about a well-kept secret. "Most cameras do look like that, you're on the right track. I've just got a little one in my phone..." Cliff flashed her a lopsided grin. "We humans know a little bit if magic of our own."
He opened up the picture, and his smile faded. For a second, he didnt say anything, his eyes darting over the screen. They both looked really good. Their comparative size was... Bizzarre to see secondhand to say the least. But that smile on her face, her healing wing catching the filtered sunlight... It was unlike anything he had ever seen. Rememmbering her, he lowered the phone so she could see. "You take pretty good pictures, sweetheart."
Her people disliked human technology. It wasn't that they were ignorant, they had their own inventions and ways of living without magic, and their scientists were respected well enough. But after all the destruction and sickness the humans had caused with their machines, anything more advanced than a lock on a door was automatically condemned on principle. It certainly didn't help that the lack of anything natural to draw energy from made most fairies feel weak. However, looking at the picture, she could not understand for the life of her how such amazing things could be considered so taboo.
Feeling like a moth drawn to a flame, she leaned in closely, ignoring how it made her eyes ache. She was amazed by how accurate the picture was, though she could just see the little dots that made it up. It was so strange to see how small she was; She'd always felt that it was the humans who were excessively large, but seeing Cliff and her from this point of view forced her to regard it from a different perspective.
The picture allowed her to see Cliff's face as if it were her own size. She let her fingers rest on the screen near his cheek while she considered the image. Looking from it to him, she felt her stomach twist strangely with an unrecognizable feeling, but one she most definitely didn't like.
"You're not so bad yourself," she replied, hiding her wince when her voice cracked.
